Ivy League-educated financial data scientist, software architect and executive with extensive high frequency trading and financial modeling experience, Dr. Werner G. Krebs is currently a Founder at Acculation and Internet-of-Things analytics company that is still partially in stealth mode. Acculation's blog and social media have been ranked in the top 5%-1% most influential of social media globally, as well as among the most influential in Los Angeles, by multiple independent social media ranking firms.

Dr. Krebs previously served as head of algorithms engineering for a leading marketing analytics and consulting firm in Los Angeles with 90% of the Fortune 100 as clients, where he combined financial modeling with big data engineering.

He previously served as financial software engineer for Madison Tyler Holdings/EWT (now Virtu Financial), a hedge fund in Santa Monica, CA, where he acquired extensive experience with all aspects of high-frequency algorithmic trading. He was also senior pipeline hedging analyst for Countrywide Financial, Inc. (now Bank of America), where he developed business-critical quantitative hedging strategies for a multi-billion dollar fixed income portfolio.

Dr. Krebs' Ph.D. thesis was in bioinformatics, the application of computer science to the analysis of biological data. His thesis work included the Database of Macromolecular Motions (link, Wikipedia) and the Morph Server. He was the first student to earn a Ph.D. in the then-new bioinformatics group then in MB&B at Yale University, which subsequently founded Yale's bioinformatics department.

In addition, he received an S.B. with Honors in Mathematics and an S.M. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago. He has researched problems in computer science, biology, mathematics, and economics in leading research groups across the country under the direct supervision of internationally recognized scientists, including a Nobel laureate in economics.

Before joining private industry, Dr. Krebs served as a postgraduate researcher at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) at UCSD, where he held several roles, including that as technical lead for the center’s Encyclopedia of Life project. He was also involved with technology-transfer at the center for a new data-mining and machine learning technology he developed to automatically annotate new genes in a statistically rigorous fashion. In addition to his extensive technological background and experience as a data mining consultant and technology evangelist, Dr. Krebs also was certified as an Informix (now IBM) Certified Database System Administrator and previously held FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses. He is the original author of GNU Queue, and continues to receive considerable interest regarding previous software and data science projects.
